My year as the first ever RFSA Board Apprentice Last year the Royal Female School of Art Foundation (RFSA) appointed its first ever Trustee Apprentice. The Apprentice position was created to give someone with no Board experience the opportunity to join a Trustee Board to observe and learn about the workings of a registered charity, whilst having to bear none of the responsibility that comes with full Trusteeship. We were delighted to welcome our first Apprentice, Stella Sideli, who recently completed her year with us. Here is what she had to say: "I am a curator and a PhD researcher exploring curatorial approaches to equality, diversity and inclusion within cultural institutional public programmes. I applied to become a Board Apprentice with the RFSA Foundation because I wanted to expand my understanding of non-profit governance and contribute to meaningful causes beyond the academic and institutional environment. My time on the Board was both enlightening and rewarding. I had the opportunity to learn about the intricacies of board operations, the strategic challenges that organisations face, and the importance of collaborative decision-making. The experience allowed me to engage in thoughtful discussions with brilliant professionals, which broadened my perspective and enriched my understanding of leadership. I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a Board Apprentice and would highly recommend this opportunity to others who are eager to learn, grow and make a difference. It’s a fantastic way to gain practical experience, develop new skills, and contribute to a very important cause. Thank you to the entire Board and everyone at the Foundation for this wonderful experience." If you would like to apply to be our next Board Apprentice, please find more information about the role here, or email [email protected] for more information. |
